A major $3 million renovation project is currently underway at Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College’s Pineville campus. The upgrades will ensure the campus continues to serve as a vital educational hub, offering programs that meet the needs of the region, especially in healthcare education.
“Over the past 29 years, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of the Pineville campus on the community,” said Dr. Rebecca Johnson, vice president of student affairs. “The campus has been an integral part of the city of Pineville and our region, providing educational opportunities and fostering a sense of belonging and growth for countless individuals…I am incredibly grateful to be a part of the transformation taking place on the campus.”
The Pineville campus, originally established in 1961 as the Pineville School for Practical Nurses, has a rich history of serving the community. Initially housed in an old elementary school building, the campus relocated to its current location in 1983. Over the years, it has expanded its program offerings from the original Practical Nurse Program to include various allied health programs, such as Medical Office Technology, Surgical Technology, Radiologic Technology, and Respiratory Care. The campus has also served as a center for GED testing and has provided numerous continuing education courses, making it a vital educational resource for the community.
“This renovation is not only about updating our facilities but also about investing in the future of our students and the Pineville community. We remain committed to supporting the region’s educational and healthcare needs for years to come,” said Dr. Patsy Jackson, SKCTC interim president and CEO.
