Middlesboro Christmas Parade set for Saturday

The Kentucky Farm Bureau Middlesboro Christmas Parade is set to go on Saturday, December 7th. This year’s grand marshals are Middlesboro native, comedian and TV host Trish Shur and local singer/songwriter Cody Fuson.

Festivities will kick off around 5:30 p.m., with vendors set up along Cumberland Avenue between 19th and 20th Street. A live stream of the events will start at around 6:30 p.m. on YouTube with WRIL’s (the Big One) Brian O’Brien & Travis Moody. The lighting of the city’s Christmas tree will be at 6:45 p.m. Immediately following the tree lighting, at 7 p.m. the parade will begin. The parade will be on Cumberland Avenue, starting at 21st Street and ending on 15th Street.

From 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. the Crater City Hub Event Center (1905 Cumberland Avenue) will be hosting the Christmas Extravaganza on Main. There will be Christmas vendors with lots to sell.

This year’s parade will feature performances by the Middlesboro JROTC, Middlesboro High School Band, Cumberland Gap High School Band, the Oleika Temple Shriners, musical performance by Cody Fusion (Grand Marshal), and Trish Shur (Grand Marshal).

Expect the following road closures: Starting at 6 p.m. Friday (December 6th) the Middlesboro City Parking Lot will be closed and cleared of all vehicles. Then at 3 p.m. on Saturday (December 7th) Cumberland Avenue, between 21st Street to 19th Street will be closed to traffic. Around 6 pm all traffic on Cumberland Avenue will be shut down from 21st Street to 15th Street.

This will be the sixth year Travis Moody with the Inferno Group has produced the parade. A portion of the proceeds raised from the Kentucky Farm Bureau Middlesboro Christmas Parade goes towards Cops-4-Kids, and the Santa Cause.
