HARROGATE, Tenn. — Lincoln Memorial University head golf coach Travis Muncy has announced the hiring of Brittany Whatley as the new women’s golf coach.

A native of Henderson, Nev., Whatley played Division I golf at the University of Nevada-Reno and Morehead State University. She comes to Harrogate with coaching experience at University of North Carolina-Greensboro and Indiana University East, an NAIA program.

“I’m really excited to join this program, especially coming off what the men have done,” Whatley said. “With the facilities and the opportunity here to get in on the ground floor of the program’s growth, I think we can really jump start the women’s program and get more plaques on the wall.”

In Whatley’s only season at Indiana University East, she guided the women’s program to a second-place finish at the River States Conference Tournament, the best finish at a conference tournament in program history. The team also broke records for lowest team scores throughout the season.

During her playing days, Whatley won the Southern Nevada Women’s Amateur Championship in 2016, was a three-time participant in the Callaway World Junior Championship and was a two-time Future Collegians World Tour All-American. She also served as a volunteer for The First Tee’s Northern and Southern Nevada chapters.

Whatley will be leading a squad that graduated only two seniors, Lise Malherbe and Hannah Wilford, and will be returning seven players.

Whatley earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Strategic Communication from Morehead State in 2016.
