Summer 2019 is upon us and that means that it is time for the Bell County Fair.

The fair kicked off Wednesday and runs through Saturday with a weekend full of festivities and events for the whole family. Admission at the gate is $5 and the gates open at 5 p.m. Friday.

“We are excited to have the Bell County Fair underway and hoping to see lots of folks from around the tri-state again this year,” said Rob Lincks, president of the Bell County Fair and Exhibition Board. “As the weather forecast continues to look better for Friday night and Saturday night, please join us for the concert, rodeo and truck and tractor pulls.”

Friday is a night full of events and activities including:

• Rodeo begins at 7 p.m.

• Devin Dawson takes the state at 8 p.m.

Saturday the gate admission is $10 and the gates will open at 10 a.m.

• Car Show at 9 a.m.

• Rodeo at 7 p.m.

• Truck-Tractor Pull at 7 p.m.

The fair is host to a wide variety of exhibits from local crafters and vendors that showcase local craftsmanship at its finest.

The Fair Exhibits are sponsored by the Bell County Cooperative Extension Service and the Bell County Fair Board.

Fair exhibits include and are not limited to Division 1, which are foods. This includes everything from cakes, biscuits, rolls, breads, muffins, cookies, fudge, brownies and miscellaneous.

Division II is the Food Preservation category. This includes and is not limited to applesauce, tomatoes, green beans, corn, sauerkraut, pickles, beets, relish, jellies and jams and a massive variety of dried fruits and vegetables.

Division III is the Hand Crafted Item category and includes small, medium and large knitted as well as crocheted items, pillows, quilts, canvas, needlepoint and other methods.

From there we move to Division IV, Clothing. This includes adult dress, adult leisure clothing, youth dress and leisure clothing, formal wear, costume, accessories, embellished clothing, and miscellaneous.

Division V is Arts and Crafts and this category includes but is not limited to nature craft, handmade jewelry, small, medium and large woodcraft, winter, spring, summer and fall decorations, miniature carvings, handmade doll, stuffed animals, paintings, black and white drawings, basketry, ceramics and pottery.

Division VI is the home grown Fruits and Vegetables category. This includes, naturally, a wide selection of fruits and vegetables.

Division VII is Honey and Division VIII is Specialty Farm — which includes things such as eggs milk, yogurt, cheese, soaps, shampoos, butter and other items.

Division IX is Flowers — which includes hanging plants, potted plants, indoor and outdoor plants and a variety of plant species. Division X wraps everything up with photography.

Carnival rides are unlimited with the price of admission.
