A South Carolina man has been charged with terroristic threatening after the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received information that 21-year-old Alexander Robert Anderson, of Rock Hill, used social media to threaten students and staff at Union College.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson threatened to cause harm to the students and faculty. Deputy Hunter Luttrell obtained and executed a warrant on Tuesday placing Anderson under arrest.

He remains in the Knox County Detention Center on a $5,000 full cash bond.

Anderson is being held on the conditions that he is not to have any further contact with Union College and that he is on home incarceration with a monitoring device.

The statement from the sheriff’s office says that during Anderson’s arrest he attempted to provoke officers into fighting him and claimed that “everyone in Knox County was racist.”

Anderson’s arraignment is set for Tuesday at 9 a.m. in district court.
