Two days after dropping a game to the Claiborne Bulldogs, the Bell County Bobcats fell to the South Laurel Cardinals 12-0 in five innings on the road Monday night. The loss marks their fourth-straight, and they open the season 0-4 for the first time since 2015.

Through their first four games this season, the Bobcats are scoring an average of two runs per game, while allowing 12.25 runs per game on average.

The Bobcats saw four pitchers take the mound on Monday. Junior Jacob Smith started for Bell County, pitching two innings, accumulating five hits, six runs, six earned runs, two walks and four strikeouts on a limited pitch count of 53 pitches. Junior J.M. Baker took the mound in the third inning, allowing only one hit, zero runs, zero earned runs, two walks and no strikeouts on 28 pitches.

Alex Mayes came in to start the fourth inning, allowing zero hits, zero runs and zero earned runs, with only one walk and a strikeout on only 19 total pitches. The Bobcats brought in Hayden Clark to close out the game in the fifth inning. Clark allowed three hits, six runs, six earned runs and two walks with no strikeouts on 21 pitches.

The Bobcats struggled on the sticks, scoring zero runs on the day with only one hit total from Smith. In 16 at-bats, Bell County had one hit, one walk, seven strikeouts and four batters hit-by-pitch. The Bobcats stole one base on one attempt from Smith.

Bell County (0-4) looks to notch their first victory of the season against the Lynn Camp Wildcats at home on Friday at 6 p.m.
