Kentucky State Police may have just found items that could be connected to the unsolved murder case of David Alan Mason. According to Trooper Shane Jacobs, police are investigating items that were found in the Arjay community that may have belonged to the victim.

Police did not release a statement regarding what the items were, but a reliable source tells the Middlesboro Daily News that the items recovered were a hat and shoes.

The death of Mason remains a mystery over three years after it happened. On June 15, 2015, Mason was found behind a residence on KY 66. At the time, police found him in a wooded area. Mason was first found by his son, Jon Mason Cox, and brother, Derek Cox, under a mattress by a creek in the Arjay community.

According to the autopsy results, David Mason had died of a gunshot wound.

During a 2015 interview, the family spoke highly of Mason stating “he’d give you the shirt off his back” and that he was “a well-liked person, good dad and good friend.”
