The job search process can prove to be a very stressful and arduous process. The evaporation of the local coal industry in Bell County has put many in difficult position when it comes to work.

One of the keys to landing any job is having a professional resume to present to any employment prospects. If you are one of the people who lost your job due to the state of the coal industry or are simply just searching for another job — having an effective resume is the first step toward being noticed by employers and getting you in the door.

The Center for Rural Development’s Business & Community Training Center is hosting a Resume Writing Workshop on July 6, from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. at Southeast Community & Technical College on the Middlesboro campus for workers negatively impacted by the coal industry in the region.

The workshop is totally free to people who have lost their job due to the decline of the coal industry in not only Bell, but also Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Leslie, McCreary, Owsley, Perry, Pulaski, Rockcastle, and Whitley counties.

The workshop will provide valuable tips and information for writing and crafting an effective resume that will help you stand out to potential employers. Participants will learn what to include in a resume and how to include it that best displays their skill set and experience.

Everyone who attends should come prepared with information to create a resume or improve your current resume. The workshop will also include how to properly format and write a cover letter. Each attendee will receive a copy of their own revised or updated resume and cover letter.

The workshop also is open to the general public for a small registration fee.
