The Pineville City Council held the first reading of the 2018-19 fiscal year budget ordinance during a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday. Mayor Scott Madon said that county employees received a 25 cent increase.

“It makes us happy to do that with times as tough as they are,” said Madon. “We had a street department employee (leave), and (we) didn’t replace him. (We) had a little extra revenue there.”

Madon said the 2018-19 budget doesn’t deviate much from the previous fiscal year budget. The city is under in almost every expense category, according to Madon.

The mayor also briefly discussed revenue from the alcohol sales. He said the projected alcohol revenue is $112,000. Last year, the revenue was projected to be about $90,000.

The first reading of the budget ordinance was approved by the board.

Other business taken care of during the meeting included:

• Approval of minutes from May 21 special-called meeting;

• Adopt resolution designating Madon as Applicants Agent for City (FEMA);

• Council members to sign conflicts of interest acknowledgement form from auditors in preparation of 2017-18 fiscal year audit;

• Second reading of food truck ordinance;

• First reading of Pineville Mart Annexation ordinance.
