Holiday Inn wins Torchbearer Award

One of the key components of any town or city is just how excellent the hospitality is. Tourism thrives on hospitality and running a successful local business can only help to encourage people to stay in your city and spread the word to others.
The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has awarded the Holiday Inn Express of Middlesboro with the coveted Torchbearer Award — the highest award the company gives out. This is the third year in a row the Middlesboro location has received this honor.
The Torchbearer Award is given to establishments that reach the highest level of excellence in all areas of service.
“It is my pleasure to award the Holiday Inn Express, Middlesboro to one of the foremost hotels in our industry. This hotel embodies the heart or our brand promise and continues our story to make our 12 brands well known and loved by guests around the world,” Elie Maalouf, Chief Executive Officer of IHG, The America’s said in a press release.
The staff of the Holiday Inn Express Middlesboro, led by General Manager Kim Wright, gathered in the lobby of the hotel on Friday to pose for a photo with their coveted Torcherbearer Award.
“This is our third consecutive year that we have been honored with this award. It’s a testament to the hard work, dedication and hospitality-hearted employees here at the hotel. I feel so fortunate to be working with such a great team,” said Wright.
“I am continually impressed by their work ethic and the pride they take to ensure that our guests have a wonderful experience. It’s truly inspiring. We are excited to see what the next year brings as we have just completed a full renovation. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, we could not be more proud.”
