Lady Lions open season with win as Howard limits Berea to one hit

Pineville junior Rachel Howard opened the 2025 season much like 2024 as she fired a one-hitter with 15 strikeouts and one walk as the Lady Lions coasted to a 14-0 win Tuesday at Berea.
Baleigh Bargo-Vaughn led Pineville at the plate with four RBI on a triple, double and two singles. Addison Slone added a double and two singles with two RBI. Rayanna Maiden tripled twice. Malley Smith singled twice. Jaycee Caldwell and Monica Whitehead had one single each.
The Lady Lions return to action Saturday at home against Cumberland Gap, Tenn., and Thomas Walker, Va.
