Bell County avenged a five-point loss in December at Middlesboro in dominating fashion Friday on Log Mountain, rolling to a 62-32 victory over the Lady Jackets to move within one win of locking up the top seed once again in the 52nd District Tournament.
Senior guard Lauren McGeorge scored 24 points and junior center Kairi Lamb added 16 as the Lady Cats improved to 15-5 overall and 4-1 in district action.
“I’m very proud of the effort from our team tonight,” Bell County coach David Teague said. “I thought they came out with a lot of energy and were very focused. We did a good job on the defensive end of the floor. I’m extremely proud of the way we executed on both ends.”
Freshman guard Emily Lambert scored 11 points for the 10-8 Lady Jackets, who have dropped four straight games.
Bell dominated the game defensively as Middlesboro scored only five points in the first quarter and six in the second to fall behind 39-11 at halftime.
Middlesboro plays host to Harlan on Tuesday. Bell County will travel to Harlan County on Tuesday.
