Beck scores 30 in Pineville debut as Mountain Lions rout Wildcats

The Pineville Mountain Lions opened their district slate with a convincing 80-43 victory over visiting Lynn Camp on Tuesday night at The Lions Den.
Senior guard Jeremiah Beck scored 30 points to lead the Lions’ attack. Ashton Moser scored 14, and Cam Puckett and Sawyer Thompson each added 11. With his tally, Puckett also joined the 1,000-point club for his career.
Ethan Chafin and Caleb Woods each scored 12 to pace the Wildcats. Jared King added 11.
Pineville jumped out to a quick 28-17 first-quarter advantage behind Beck’s 12 points in the period. The Lions extended their lead to 55-27 at the half.
PHS held the Wildcats to eight points in both the third and fourth frames to win going away.
The 12-4 Lions face another district test Friday night on the road against Barbourville as part of a boys/girls doubleheader. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

In junior varsity action, the Lions improved their record to 7-0 with victories over Knox Central and Lynn Camp.
The Lions defeated the Panthers 53-45 behind Anderson Gentry’s 14 points. Ethan Jackson scored 11, Noah Slone contributed 10, Jacob Hartmann had nine, Brady Hatmaker added six, and Tate Slone scored three
Bargo led the Panthers with 13, while Hodge added 12.
Pineville also defeated the Wildcats 48-30. Jared Storms scored 13 to lead the Lions. N. Slone added nine. Hartmann and Gentry scored six points each. T. Slone had three, while Jackson, Hatmaker, Braxton Baker, Peyton Lawson and Brody Fugate had two points each.
