Panthers take down Cherokee, earn 7th straight victory

Cumberland Gap just keeps rolling as the team reaches the midway point of the season. On Thursday, the Panthers earned their seventh consecutive victory when they defeated Cherokee 11-8.

The last time Cumberland Gap tasted defeat was against Alcoa on March 31.

It was Brady Pearman who paced the Panthers at the plate earning three RBIs and one run on two hits. Michael Moyers was also consistent going 3-for-5 with two runs. Micah Cannon drove in two runs and tallied two runs of his own on two hits.

Peyton Welch found home plate twice for two runs. Darrin Robertson, Brennan Murphy, Holdin McDaniel, Peyton Wilder, Jeremiah Cannon and Ethan Ramsey all scored runs in what was a high scoring affair.

Brennan Murphy collected the win on the mound for the Panthers. Through four innings, he allowed five runs and eight hits while striking out four batters. Moyers earned the save recording the last nine outs for Cumberland Gap.

Cherokee found their own success at the plate tallying 14 hits on the day.

Cumberland Gap (16-5) will travel to Grainger (4-8) at 5 p.m. on Monday.
