Lambert hits five 3s as Lady Jackets win at East Jessamine

Led by 20 points from freshman guard Emily Lambert and 19 from senior guard Keevi Betts, Middlesboro evened its record at 1-1 with a 62-50 victory Thursday at East Jessamine.
Middlesboro took control early, building an 18-8 lead after one quarter, led by three baskets each from Lambert and Betts. The lead grew to 36-25 by halftime as Lambert added three more baskets, including her third and fourth 3-pointers of the game,
East Jessamine cut the deficit to 50-45 after three quarters before pulling away again in the fourth period, led by two baskets from Trinity Derossett.
Kyla Hunt scored 22 and Rickayla Hubbard added 16 to lead the 1-1 Lady Jaguars.
“I’m really proud of how we played on the road,” Middlesboro coach Sally Adams said. “Even through some adversity, the girls played with discipline and poise, which is what we have lacked in the past. It was a goood win.”
Middlesboro travels to Barbourville on Tuesday.
