Bell advances to semifinals with grueling victory over Lady Lions

Bell County extended its streak of first-round wins in the 13th Region Tournament to four, but it was far from easy as the Lady Cats held off Pineville 28-26, 25-16, 27-25 on Saturday.
The 28-10 Lady Cats, who lead the region in wins, will face Whitley County on Monday at 8 in the semifinals at Harlan High School. Bell has fallen in the semifinals each of the previous three years.
Pineville fell to 25-13, breaking a school record this year for victories and winning a second straight 51st District Tournament title.
Kairi Lamb led Bell County with 20 kills, 11 digs, two service aces and two blocks. Emma Winkler had five kills, 14 assists, 10 digs and two aces. Nevaeh Allen added three kills, 15 digs, 13 assists and and three aces. Alexis Brown contributed three kills, 14 digs and four aces. Abbi Middleton added 14 digs, one ace and one assist.
