The Pineville Mountain Lions have been road warriors for this season while improvements and updates were being made to Bill Adams Stadium.
So with an air of excitement the Lions played their first game of the season in their friendly confines against traditional rival Williamsburg.
Unfortunately for Pineville, it was the Yellow Jackets providing the fireworks on the field, jumping out to a 28-0 first quarter advantage to win 48-0 Friday night.
Williamsburg opened up the scoring when Peyton Hamilton caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Nate Goodin with 9:35 left in the period to stake the Jackets to a quick 6-0 advantage.
After a Pineville turnover, Williamsburg added another quick touchdown when Dawson Stephens ran it in from the 4 with 7:20 left in the first quarter to make the score 12-0 Jackets.
Another Pineville fumble set up the Jackets in great field position inside the Lions 30. Williamsburg made the Lions pay when Goodin went for a 27-yard touchdown run with 4:22 left in the first quarter to increase the lead to 20-0.
Williamsburg added another touchdown on a 19-yard touchdown run by Goodin. The two-point conversion was good, staking the Jackets to a 28-0 lead after one frame.
After a Lions punt, Williamsburg scored again when Peyton Tye ran it in from the 10. The two-point conversion was no good with 5:09 left in the first half increasing the lead to 34-0.
Williamsburg added another first half touchdown when Goodin found paydirt for a 1-yard touchdown run with 1:28 left in the quarter to help extend the Jacket advantage to 42-0.
With a running clock in play, the last touchdown the Yellow Jackets scored came when Stephens found the end zone for an 8 yard touchdown run.
The Lions return to action Friday night as they make the trip south on 25-E to face arch rival Middlesboro.
