Coaches, media release awards

The 13th Region media and the 13th Region Boys Basketball Association released their regional awards on Tuesday. Sawyer Brock and Josh Lawson were the only two players from the area to receive recognition for their performance on the court during the regular season.
Bell County’s Brock received 13th Region Honorable Mention honors from the media. After sitting out his sophomore year, he returned to play for the Bobcats this season. He started the year in a sixth man role before quickly finding his way into the starting lineup.
Brock paced Bell County averaging a team-high 13.4 points while shooting 51.7 percent from the field. He averaged 4.4 rebounds while serving as the point guard of the team.
Pineville’s Lawson was recognized by the coaches association earning a spot on the Second Team All-Region. A member of two 13th Region All A championship teams, the senior led Pineville in scoring with an average of 11.2 points per game.
Lawson also averaged 3.7 rebounds per game – good enough for second on the team.
Middlesboro’s Cameron May and Taylor McClelland both earned All-Region Senior Academic honors.
