Downtown Middlesboro has a cool new barbershop. Vision Studios held a ribbon cutting and open house on Friday with Middlesboro Main Street and the Bell County Chamber of Commerce.
Owner Kapena Kauhaahaa and barber Trey Watkins provide all types of hair cuts and shaves at their shop located at 2001 Cumberland Avenue on Fountain Square right next door to the Vets Serving Vets headquarters.
“I’ve been a barber for almost seven years now, I was a barber in California before I moved out here,” Kauhaahaa said. “I felt like there was a need for a new style of barber, I noticed there were just a bunch of old school barbers around here and we needed something new.”
He met Trey at the Sandra Academy of Salon Services barber school in Tazewell.
“I told him I was thinking about opening something up here. That’s how we got started,” Kauhaahaa added. “Right now it’s just the two of us, but I’m working on getting at least one more barber and maybe a girl who does braids.”
Vision Studio is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome or you can call 606-302-4050 to make an appointment.
