Body of missing Harrogate man found in Knox County

The body of a missing Claiborne County man was found in Knox County, Kentucky, on Wednesday afternoon (March 13).
86-year-old Curtis Mason, of Harrogate, had been reported missing and was last seen Monday, February 26th. A Silver Alert was issued by the TBI.
His vehicle, a 2004 silver Pontiac Montana, had been captured by business cameras in Middlesboro, Pineville, and along Highway 92 during this time. Multiple law enforcement agencies and family members of Mr. Mason had been searching for him for several weeks.
Mr. Mason was found in the Goldens Creek area of Knox County near Highway 1809 after individuals riding in the region told those searching for him they had seen his van. He was pronounced dead by Knox County Coroner Mike Blevins. His body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.
While Knox County Lt. Sam Mullins is heading up the Kentucky portion of the investigation, Claiborne County Detectives and TBI are in charge of the Tennessee investigation. No foul play is suspected.
