The State of Kentucky will implement a vehicle system upgrade beginning Jan. 1 with a rollout for counties beginning Jan. 8. Bell County’s scheduled rollout of the motor vehicle department is Jan. 11. There will be no motor vehicle or boat transactions available Dec. 30-Jan. 11 in Bell County.

The county clerk’s office will be open for marriage license, real estate and election department services.

The courthouse will be closed Dec. 29-Jan. 1 for New Year’s, but the county clerk’s office will be open Dec. 29 for vehicle registrations that must be completed before the end of the year. The clerk’s office will be closed Jan. 1-2. The clerk’s office also will be closed Dec. 23, 25, 26 for Christmas and Jan. 15 for Martin Luther King Day.

Everyone is encouraged to renew tags before Dec. 30 due to the closure.
