FRANKFORT — Bell County’s girls basketball team won the Christmas at the Capital Holiday Classic Friday night, beating Brown 41-37 at Frankfort High’s F.D. Wilkinson Gym.

The Lady Cats (8-6) led 14-7 after the first quarter, 23-19 at halftime and 29-25 going into the fourth period.

Brown, out of Louisville, pulled within two points at 39-37 late in the game but couldn’t get closer.

Abby Harris led Bell County with 11 points, followed by Karlee Cox with nine, Brea Browning with eight, Brittney Cupp with six, Brittany Davis with five, and Lindsay Bryant with two points.

Harris was named the player of the game.

Madison Cockroft and Hanna Corus both scored nine points to lead Brown (11-3).
