Lady Jackets earn 66-15 win over Red Bird

Middlesboro picked up their first win of the season on Saturday. The Lady Jackets easily dispatched Red Bird with a 66-15 victory. The win ends a three-game losing streak that includes defeats to Harlan County, Knox Central and Harlan.
The Lady Jackets were able to go deep into their bench after holding a 41-7 lead at halftime. Baylee Woody led all scorers with a game-high 17 points. Hannah Warren and Jamayha Poe finished the day with nine and eight points, respectively.
Poe led the team with seven rebounds. Malorie Carter tallied six boards as well.
Kailey Owen led the second team with 10 points. Tenley Jackson added seven points to the final tally.
Kara Wilson paced Red Bird with five points. Alyssa Gibson and Lexi Bowling chipped in four points apiece.
Saturday’s game was never in doubt as the Lady Jackets took an 18-2 lead into the first quarter. The team continued the onslaught in the second racking up 23 points to claim a 34-point halftime lead. Woody led Middlesboro in the second with six points.
The Lady Jackets outscored the Lady Cardinals 25-8 in the second half to earn the easy victory.

Middlesboro (1-3) battled Williamsburg on Monday before hosting Claiborne, Tennessee on Thursday.
Red Bird (0-3) travels to Pineville (4-0) on Friday.
