The Pineville girls basketball team felt little resistance on Monday when they traveled to Lee, Virginia. The Lady Lions raced out to an 18-point lead early in the game en route to a 73-57 victory over the Lady Generals.
For Pineville, it is the second win in a row that the team has won by double-digits after claiming a 12-point victory over Jackson County during the season opener.

Sheridan Merrow added seven points to the scoreboard, while Baylee Cox scored six points off the bench.
After a slow start in the first four minutes of the game, Pineville began finding their stride after a Lee timeout at the 4:20 mark in the first. From that point forward, a 6-3 Lady Lion lead exploded to a 21-3 lead by the end of the quarter.
The Lady Lions ended the period on a 15-0 run. During that stretch, Caldwell scored six points while Enix tallied five.
Pineville didn’t lose a step in the second quarter adding 21 points to the scoreboard. After exchanging baskets, Enix and Chesney Brock scored to increase the lead to 27-5. A 3-pointer by Courtney Bryant ballooned the margin to 30-5 with under 6:00 to play in the half.
Kaitlyn Cox halted the momentum temporarily with a putback basket before the Lady Lions went on an 11-0 run. Combs started the run with a fastbreak layup to increase the lead to 32-7. Back-to-back jumpers by Caldwell widened the margin to 36-7.
Pineville ended the run with a 3-pointer from Combs and a basket by Makenzie Fuson to increase the lead to 41-7. The Lady Generals outscored the Lady Lions down the stretch 11-1 behind consecutive 3-pointers from Tabor that helped narrow the deficit to 42-16 heading into halftime.
Lee High picked things up offensively behind Tabor’s effort. The starting guard scored all but four points for the Lady Generals in the third. She scored 12 points during the period with nine coming off 3-pointers.
A layup by King at the buzzer gave Pineville a 58-32 lead at the end of the third.
