Suzanne Cavin Estep, 68, of Ewing, Virginia, passed away April 26, 2020, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, surrounded by her daughters and husband.

She was born Aug. 8, 1951 to the late Onlie and Pauline Neal Cavin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Bill Cavin and sister-in-law Rosanna Cavin.

Suzanne is survived by her husband of 50 years Terry Estep; daughters Tara Estep, Stacy Estep Munsey (Michael), Torry Estep Taylor (Scott), Sasha Estep Hixson (Andrew), and Teri Estep Dean (Derek). Grandchildren Dylan and Megan Williams; Lincoln, Henry, and Grant Munsey; Willow Reese and Reed Taylor; Benjamin and Annabel Hixson; and Kieran Dean. Also survived by her brother Johnny Cavin.

Suzanne retired from Lee County Schools after 33 years where the majority of her career was spent as guidance counselor at Thomas Walker High School. Her fellow teachers and staff were her friends and the students were “her kids” too. Over the years Suzanne took much pride in hearing “if it hadn’t been for Mrs. E…”.

More than that, Suzanne was so proud of her five girls and always felt that they were her greatest accomplishments. She was known by many names but Nana was most special to her. Spoiling her grandchildren was her favorite pastime; how she would light up at the sight of their faces. Suzanne was the heart of her family and will forever be loved.

A private service was held in her honor with interment at Lee Memorial Gardens Park-West officiated by Rev. Richard Long. Pallbearers were Andrew Hixson, Bruce Neal, Derek Dean, John Charles Cavin, Johnny Cavin, Michael Munsey, Scott Taylor, and Todd Cavin.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Van Huss Grove Cemetery Fund c/o Farmers and Miners Bank 41526 W. Morgan Ave, Pennington Gap, VA 24277.
