Making Ripples Training Studio in Middlesboro is hosting a 5K run on Nov. 30 for Dylan Bingham, an eighth-grade student that was recently diagnosed with leukemia.
“We wanted to do something nice for him and his family,” Ashley Ramsey owner and operator of Making Ripples said. “We are hoping to raise enough money to give him a good Christmas.”
Bingham is in remission and is still active in school and plays football for Bell County.
“The race will go along Cumberland Avenue and circle down through Southeast,” Ramsey explained. “It will finish back at Making Ripples Studio.”
Each runner will receive a t-shirt and a medal. There will be a first, second and third place winner for each division — both male and female.
“This is the first time we’ve planned this, and we are looking forward to seeing the turnout,” she said. “Please come out and run or walk to support this great cause.”
Registration is $35 to enter, and you can register on the Making Ripples Training Studio Facebook page. They are asking that walkers and runners show up 30 minutes prior to the race beginning. The race will start at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Making Ripples. Anyone who needs to pay in cash can do so the morning of the race.
“We are really looking forward to this and hope the community will show up and support Dylan,” Ramsey said.
