The El Mariachi in Middlesboro has received the 2019 “Best Local Restaurant” award from Best In Town Network, a Nashville, Tenn.-based restaurant survey and marketing company.

El Mariachi Co-owner and General Manager Leo Lozano, Jr. was presented the award by the firm’s representative, Elmer Purkey. According to Purkey, “This El Mariachi location ranked as the No. 1 Mexican restaurant, and in the top 3 restaurants overall in Bell County. The extensive survey of local residents focuses on quality food, good service and local popularity. This El Mariachi location is very popular serving approximately 10,000 patrons per month.”

Accepting the award, Lozano said, “My father, Leo Lozano Sr., has been in the restaurant business here in Middlesboro since first opening La Esperanza here over 19 years ago. Our family now operates five restaurants between here and Knoxville. We have always been very active in the supporting and sponsoring many local community organizations. Our staff works very hard to provide our patrons with good fresh food and a pleasant dining experience. We are honored by the continued support of our local community and are always appreciative of the recognition we receive for just doing our job.”
