The Bell County Bobcats continue to roll as they improved to 5-0 on the season with a marginal victory over the McCreary County Central Raiders on Friday night. The game was called at half time due to weather and the scoring margin already being heavily in favor of the Bobcats, 56-6.

London Stephney lead the charge against the Raiders, accounting for 104 passing yards and one passing touchdown on 5-of-7 passing. Four Bobcats had rushing touchdowns on Friday night. Brandon Baker lead the Bell County rushing attack with three carries for 86 yards and one touchdown. William Dean and Dawson Woolum each had one carry for 10 yards and a touchdown. Hayden Callebs had one carry for five yards and a touchdown.

Jason Jones lead the Bobcats’ receiving core with four receptions for 89 yards and one touchdown. Cameron Burnett had one reception for 15 yards. The Bell County defense limited the McCreary Central offense to -15 rushing yards and only 53 passing yards. The Bobcats scored twice on defense. Dean had a 45 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown and Jonathan Lankford had a 50 yard interception return for a touchdown.

“We played solid in all three phases of the game,” said Bell County coach Dudley Hilton. “That’s one of the best things about this team is that we have so many athletes that can give us quality production on any unit of the team. We scored twice on defense, our offense is playing well and our special teams are playing well too.”

“The weather caused the game to be called at the half, but we put up 43 points in the first quarter and felt like we had the game in hand either way. I’m pleased with how well we are playing as a team. We continue to work hard and try to improve every day. We are going to get back to work and get prepared for a good Rockcastle County team this week. After three straight road games, it’s going to be good to be back at our place.”

With the victory, Bell County improved to 5-0 on the season. With the loss, McCreary County Central moved to 0-5 on the season as they continue to struggle. The Bobcats will be back in action on October 4 as they take on the Rockcastle County Rockets at Dudley Hilton field.
