A Middlesboro man remains in the Bell County Detention Center following his capture after he led police on a chase through the county.

Jack Dewayne Gore, 36, of Middlesboro, was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police in motor vehicle, fleeing or evading police on foot, reckless driving, no operator’s license and two counts of no seat belts.

Sunday evening at approximately 6:40 p.m., Middlesboro Police Sergeant Barry Cowan attempted a traffic stop near 15th Street Salisbury Avenue on a white Volkswagon.

According to the report, Sgt. Cowan saw Gore and knew he had an outstanding parole violation warrant and no operator’s license. As Cowan attempted the stop, Gore sped up and attempted to flee the area and a pursuit began.

Cowan was joined by Middlesboro Police Officers, and the high-speed chase continued onto U.S 25E then onto KY 190 near Pineville. It ended at a residence near Smith Hill.

Reports state Gore then attempted to flee the scene on foot and left behind a female passenger. He wasn’t able to get very far before he was tased and then taken into custody.

Gore was transported to the Bell County Detention Center and was served his parole violation warrant that was taken out on July 17, 2019 for third-degree burglary.

In that warrant, he is accused of absconding parole. More charges are pending.
