A Kettle Island man remains in jail after he was arrested Friday when deputies performed a welfare check on him.

Stanley Thomas Davis was charged with first-degree trafficking a controlled substance (greater than two grams methamphetamine), second-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a release from the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, deputy Edward Dray, assisted by Frank Foster, were dispatched to a welfare check. The caller stated the vehicle was parked on the side of the road and the driver appeared to be passed out.

The release states when deputies arrived, they made contact with the Davis and informed him of the complaint. Deputy Dray asked him to exit the vehicle resulting in Davis exhibiting even more nervous behavior.

Davis gave deputies verbal permission to search the vehicle, and he then removed a small black magnetic plastic key box from his right front pant pocket. The release states the box contained a small, clear plastic bag that contained approximately three grams of white to almost clear crystal substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine.

Also found was a small clear plastic bag that contained four tablets and a small clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

A clear glass pipe was also located that contained a white residue.

Deputies placed Davis under arrest and transported him to the Bell County Detention Center. He was still in jail as of press time.
