On Tuesday morning, the Pineville City Council announced that they will no longer fund the efforts to sustain the Pineville Community Hospital.

City officials said the decision was made due to Tranzon and the bankruptcy court continually changing the mark of the requirements.

According to Pineville Mayor Scott Madon, at this point, the only entity with money invested in the hospital is the city.

Madon also said that the city did their part and did their best to move forward, but it is no longer possible with the rules being changed.

The question of how long can the hospital continue to operate was asked, and Madon says it is now up to the employees and how long they decide to “stick it out.” It is not the decision of the council to close the hospital, it is up to the Pineville Community Health Center board. Mayor Madon added that “there is no more money.”

It is also important to note that the hospital employees did receive all their back pay thanks to the efforts of the city.
