Baseball earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Lincoln Memorial University baseball team has been named to the 2018-19 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award list. This is the second year in a row that LMU has made the list.

Teams from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and junior colleges are eligible for inclusion, as well as high school teams. This year 305 member schools were named to the honor roll.

The LMU baseball team posted a 3.14 GPA for the 2018-19 academic year. In order to be considered for the Team Academic Excellence Award a head coach must be a member of the ABCA and the team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better.

The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation’s oldest, founded in 1949. Graduating senior and San Diego Padres draft pick, Ethan Elliott, was a 2019 selection for the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Team.
