Pumpkins in the Park fun for all

Through rain and shine, both kids and adults seemed excited to attend Wilderness Road State Park’s ninth annual Pumpkins in the Park event, featuring the well-known haunted trail hayride.
The event kicked off Thursday evening with a special kid’s night, complete with a costume contest, trunk-or-treat and pumpkin painting. The fun continued into the weekend, with Friday and Saturday focusing on a more adult theme with the haunted hayride.
“I definitely had a great time, and I even found myself scared multiple times, even though I’ve attended before,” said attendee Kaitlyn Smith.
Concessions and T-shirts were also available, with the park itself, the local Army ROTC group and Thomas Walker High School’s Science Club all featuring their own booths.
With several hundreds in attendance — despite the rainy weather — it certainly appeared to be yet another success for one of the park’s most popular events of the year.
