The Pineville Lady Lions bounced back their first loss of the season by using a familiar formula for success, with strong pitching and timely hitting, in a 7-0 win Wednesday over visiting Barbourville.
Rachel Howard pitched a one-hitter with 16 strikeouts and no walks as she dominated the game in the circle.
Three Lady Lions collected two hits, led by Baileigh Bargo-Vaughn with a double and single. Monica Whitehead and Jaycee Caldwell each added two singles. Howard had one single.
The two teams meet again Thursday at Barbourville.
