Bobcats end four-game skid with victory over Campbell County

With district play opening Monday, the Bell County Bobcats will be working to build on the momentum of a 12-2 win at Campbell County, Tenn., when they travel to Harlan for a rematch of last year’s 52nd District finals.
Blake Burnett led the Bobcats with four hits in four at bats in the win over Campbell County with a triple and three singles. Jackson Walters added two hits. Cooper Brock added a hit while driving in three runs and scoring three. Joseph Brigmon also had a hit.
Brock pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up two runs on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Alex Creech gave up only one hit and no runs in 1 2/3 innings. Austin Goodman allowed one hit with five strikeouts and one walk in two shutout innings.
Bell County dropped three games in Florida — 11-0 to St. Joseph Academy, 5-1 to Pedro Menendez and 15-5 to First Coast.
Holden Clark led the Bobcats against Pedro Menendez with a double. Burnett and Walters added singles.
Burnett recorded his 200th career strikeout as he gave up two unearned runs in 4 2/3 innings. Brock and Alex Creech also saw mound action.
Walters doubled in the loss to First Coast. Hunter Fuson and Clark added singles.
Brayden Carroll started on the mound and allowed one unearned run on three hits in three innings. Brock, Logan Greene and Clark also pitched.
Brigmon had a homer and single to lead the Bobcats in a 9-4 loss to South Laurel. Brock added a double. Alex Creech, Carroll and Burnett added singles.
Carroll started on the mound and gave up five runs on four hits in 2 2/3 innings. Burnett allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits in two innings. Greene and Creech recorded two outs each and held South scoreless.
