Jackets’ comeback falls short as Pineville hangs on for 5-4 win

The Pineville Lady Lions improved their record to 4-0 on Monday, but it wasn’t easy as visiting Middlesboro scored the final four runs before falling 5-4.
The Lady Jackets capitalized on eight Pineville errors to make it close against Pineville ace Rachel Howard, who pitched a three-hitter with 16 strikeouts and no walks.
Lily Partin pitched a complete game for the 3-2 Lady Jackets as she gave up five runs (three earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
Addison Lawson, Alexis Ingram and Abney Allen each had hits for the Lady Jackets.
Monica Whitehead and Howard led the Lady Lions with two hits each. Rayanna Maiden, Addison Slone and Baileigh Bargo-Vaughn added one hit each.
The Lady Lions travel to Williamsburg on Friday. Middlesboro will play at Harlan on Thursday.
