Robbins homers, drives in 3 as Mountain Lions defeat Red Bird

The Pineville Mountain Lions won a pair of slugfests on the road to open the 2025 season, winning 12-9 on Tuesday at Thomas Walker, Va., and 12-10 on Wednesday at Red Bird.

Kaiden Robbins earned the win in the opening game as he struck out nine and walked two while giving up two runs on two hits over three innings in relief. Kaden Taylor started on the mound and allowed seven runs on four hits over 3 1/3 innings with five strikeouts and five walks. Preston Zachery struck out two and walked three as he recorded the final two outs for a save.
Collin Bays, Sean Pursifull, Kaiden Robbins, Landon Robbins and Tristen Johnson had one single each with Kaiden Robbins and Johnson each driving in three runs.
Kaiden Robbins drove in three runs with a homer and double in the win over Red Bird. Bays drove in two runs with two hits. Zachery had a triple. Nasir Wilson and Landon Robbins each added doubles.
Zachery earned the win as he gave up six runs on two hits and nine walks in three innings of relief with four strikeouts. Tristen Johnson started on the mound and pitched four innings, giving up four runs on two hits with six strikeouts and seven walks.
The 1-1 Mountain Lions travel to McCreary Central on Friday.
