MANCHESTER — With 6-foot-3 junior center Kairi Lamb not on the floor, the Bell County Lady Cats are not the same team. Lamb suffered a knee injury when she fell Friday at Leslie County and was unable to play Saturday against Dunbar on Saturday in the Donnie Gray Shootout at Clay County.
Dunbar took advantage of the Lady Cats’ lack of a shot blocker and had success getting to the basket in a 61-49 victory.
Sophomore guard Layla Flynn scored 19 points to lead the 12-13 Bulldogs. Ava Rankin and Ellie Lavey added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Senior guard Lauren McGeorge led the 17-6 Lady Cats with 23 points.
Bell County defeated Leslie County 64-43 on Friday as McGeorge scored 23 points and Lamb added 19 for the Lady Cats.
Lexi Wilson scored 12 and Ava Napier tossed in 10 to lead the Lady Eagles.
Bell County coach David Teague said the severity of Lamb’s injury was uncertain on Saturday.
The Lady Cats return to action Tuesday at home against Jackson County.
