A Middlesboro man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly beating his female cousin with a baseball bat at an Avondale residence on Saturday night.
Middlesboro Police began a search for an individual involved in an assault of a family member Saturday evening after Officer Rossi was dispatched over a 911 hang-up call at around 8:40 p.m. As he arrived on scene, two vehicles were leaving the residence, a black Chevy Cruze and a light blue Chevy pickup truck.
WRIL reports that the officer was able to see a woman with her face covered in blood inside the Cruze and stopped the vehicle. During the stop the woman began yelling for help and Rossi noticed several lacerations to her forehead, face and nose. Her eye was swollen shut and she had a broken arm and finger.
The woman stated she and her cousin, 58-year-old Quillian Miracle, were arguing when he became enraged, grabbed a baseball bat, and beat her with it.  She stated she was able to get away when Miracle went into the kitchen, and she ran from the house to her car and left.  Miracle, in the light blue truck, fled the scene when the victim was pulled over.
Middlesboro EMS arrived at the traffic stop and prepared the victim to be flown from the area to UT Hospital immediately.
Middlesboro Officers investigated the Avondale address finding blood evidence in several areas, more of the victim’s bloody clothes, and the bat Miracle used in the attack.  An additional call stated that the pickup truck was seen driving through a yard avoiding police presence in the area.
A social media post was made on Sunday seeking Miracle’s whereabouts. At around 3 p.m. on Sunday, Bell County Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with Miracle approximately two and a half miles down Highway 72 in the Hulen community. He tried to flee on foot, but was found a short time later.
Miracle was taken to the Pineville Community Health Center emergency room by Bell County Sgt. Austin Poindexter after complaining of shortness of breath. Officer Rossi arrived at the hospital, read Miracle his rights, and transported him to Bell County Detention Center after examination.
Quillian Miracle was charged with Attempted Murder and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
