Bell County Jailer Robin Venable passes away

Bell County Jailer Robin Venable passed away on Sunday following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 59 years old.

Before being elected Jailer, Venable served as a Middlesboro Police Officer and as a Deputy with the Bell County Sheriff’s Department.

“Robin fought the good fight and we ask that you keep his family close in your thoughts and prayers,” the Sheriff’s Department posted on Facebook.

The Bell County Volunteer Fire Department Board of Directors, Department Officers, Volunteer Firefighters and Junior Firefighters also extended their condolences to Venable’s family.

“He was a first responder whose life served others through each opportunity God provided an open door. He made a difference with his passions, skills and talents. We the citizens of Bell County experienced his dedication,” their post read. “We remember his brothers and sisters who worked alongside him too. Our prayers also for the Middlesboro Police Department, Bell County Sheriff’s Department and the Bell County Detention Center.”

The Middlesboro Police Department also sent out a post in memory of Venable.

“Our hearts ache for the profound loss of our former police officer Robin Venable. Robin’s brave soul was dedicated to serving and protecting our community for many years. Robin’s unwavering commitment to upholding justice and maintaining peace will forever be remembered. We ask that you keep Robin friends and family in your prayers during this difficult time,” their post read.

Funeral arrangements for Venable had not been completed as of press time. Cawood Funeral Home in Middlesboro is handling the arrangements.
