Pineville advanced to the finals of the 13th Region All “A” Classic with a 65-54 win Tuesday over Oneida Baptist at Lynn Camp High School.
Sawyer Thompson scored 23 points and Ashton Moser added 22 for the 9-4 Lions, who will play Barbourville in the championship game Wednesday.
“I’m proud of our team for their effort in this game. I thought we defended them pretty solid and we shared the ball well tonight,” Pineville coach Brad Levy said. “I thought Ashton Moser and Sawyer Thompson both played like top players in our region tonight. They both hit some big shots and played like veterans in big moments of the game.
Jacob Rogers led OBI with 26 points while Jason Erhunmwunse finished with 10 for the 8-7 Mountaineers.
“OBI is a tough team and very well coached. (Skyler) Roberts and Rogers are two of the better guards in this region and will be for the next several years,” Levy said. “We made enough plays to come out on top tonight.”
