Pineville won two of three games at the Chain Rock Classic over the weekend, defeating Oneida Baptist and Claiborne, Tenn., sandwiched around a loss to McCreary Central.
Sawyer Thompson scored 20 in a comeback 57-50 win over Oneida Baptist on Saturday. Ashton Moser and Cameron Puckett added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Dennis Esemuede scored 12 and Jacob Rogers added 11 for the 6-6 Moutaineers.
The Mountain Lions fought from behind all night in an 89-70 loss to McCreary Central on Friday. Luke Foster scored 26 and Peyton Higginbotham added 21 for the Raiders.
Thompson poured in 37 points to lead Pineville. Moser added 20 points.
Thompson and Moser each scored 17 and Kaiden Robbins added 15 as the Lions coasted past Claiborne, Tenn., 78-43 on Thursday.
The 6-4 Mountain Lions will play host to Red Bird on Thursday before traveling to Lynn Camp on Saturday for the quarterfinals of the 13th Region All “A” Classic. The Lions will play Williamsburg at noon, followed by Oneida Baptist taking on Harlan at 2, Lynn Camp playing Red Bird at 4 and Barbourville playing the Jackson County/Middlesboro winner at 6.
