Christmas night shooting death under investigation

The Bell County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a Christmas night shooting death in the Calvin community.
WRIL reports that Deputy Coroner Don Horton identified the victim as 55-year-old Michael Smith of Calvin.
Bell Dispatch received a call at 10:24 p.m. on Wednesday night, December 25, reporting an unresponsive male after a shooting. The incident occurred between family members at a residence on Highway 3482 off Highway 119.
Upon arrival, Deputies Sampson Churchwell, Keith Fuson, and Hunter Luttrell, made sure the area was secure before allowing Bell County EMS on scene. Prior to their arrival, CPR was administered to Smith, but he succumbed to the gunshot. Air Evac had been on standby before the individual died.
Horton arrived on the scene and declared Smith deceased.
Deputy Hunter Luttrell is continuing the investigation into the shooting.
