Grace Health reached a significant milestone in employee development during its pinning ceremony on November 21. The event recognized over 50 employees who graduated from Grace University (Grace U) certification programs for their commitment to excellence in patient care and professional growth. This included the inaugural class of National Entry Level Dental Assistant (NELDA) certificate holders, marking the first time this certification has been earned in Grace U history.
Established in 2017, Grace U offers nationally accredited certification programs for employees to enhance their skills and advance their careers. Since its inception, Grace U has certified 415 employees in the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) programs, boasting pass rates significantly higher than national averages: 98% for CCMA (compared to 77% nationally) and 99% for CMAA (compared to 69% nationally).
This year, Grace U expanded to include its first-ever dental assisting certification program, with five employees completing the rigorous requirements for NELDA certification. These candidates achieved a 100% pass rate on Anatomy, Morphology, and Physiology exams, setting the stage for further certification as Certified Dental Assistants (CDA).
“The addition of the Dental Assisting program reflects Grace Health’s commitment to providing innovative opportunities for employee growth,” said Chad Stevens, Chief Financial Officer of Grace Health. “The success of our inaugural NELDA class showcases the dedication of our employees and the exceptional training provided by our team.”
Dental Director Dr. Kayla Fields and Dental Coordinator Jennifer Gibson were instrumental in launching the new certification. Gibson, who earned a CCMA certification through Grace U after teaching the NELDA course, credited the program’s success to the employees’ hard work and the unwavering support of their families and Grace Health leadership.
The ceremony also celebrated employees earning CMAA and CCMA certifications. Special recognition was given to top scorers, dual-certified employees, and instructors like Brandy Meyers and Ashley Cloyd, whose mentorship and dedication ensured their cohorts a 100% pass rate.
“Grace Health invests in its employees because we believe that by equipping them with the best training and support, we are ultimately improving patient care in our communities,” said Stevens. “This evening, we celebrate their achievements and the collective effort of their families, peers, and instructors.”
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt acknowledgment of Grace Health’s leadership team for fostering an environment prioritizing education and growth. Grace Health’s Public Relations Specialist, Rebekah Riggs, was recognized and thanked for her work documenting the event, as were Donna Vandy and Tri-County Catering for the exceptional food.
Kim Bingham, Director of Human Resources, brought Patty Miller, HR Generalist, on stage to thank her for her pivotal role in organizing and setting up the classes, tracking employee progress, motivating and cheering them on, and orchestrating the pinning ceremonies. As the organization continues to expand its training programs, the success of its employees remains central to its mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services.
