The new science labs at Middlesboro High School have been completed and last week they hosted a thrilling biology lab that used science to solve a murder mystery.

The school shared details of the special lesson on its Facebook page. Students used their knowledge of macromolecules to analyze samples from a crime scene involving the murder of a food critic. By examining bile contents and identifying carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids, the budding scientists pieced together clues that led to the shocking discovery of a toxic compound in a dish the critic had recently been served..

This hands-on experience not only showcased their skills in biochemical analysis but also highlighted the vital role of biology in forensic investigations.
