Along with the win, coach Samantha North secured her 100th win in school history.
“It felt surreal to get to 100, because there was a point in my career where 100 was never even on my radar,” North said. “We have always been focused on building a family and a culture; we knew winning would come with time. The last several years we have really seen the fruits of our labor. It feels more like a new chapter in our program history. I am so proud of how far we have come.”
The group of Pineville seniors cemented their legacy in school history with a 51st District championship and three 51st District runner up trophies, a 13th Region All A runner up and the Buckhorn Lake Classic runner up. They have won 70 matches together. They currently hold the records for most digs in a game, single season digs, career digs, most kills in a game, single season kills, and career kills, most blocks in a game, single season blocks, career blocks, most assists in a game, single season assists and career assists. They currently hold the record for the most wins in a season with 23 and counting.
“Their accolades are such a testament to how our program has grown over the last 8 years. There will always be up and down years, but our girls practice and play with desperation,” said North, who founded the program in 2016. “They know what we are and what we can be. My expectations are always high, but theirs are even higher. I cannot imagine walking into a gym next year and not see their faces. There was a moment though last night when all the seniors were in the locker room and all the underclassmen were out on the floor playing. It was such a bittersweet moment, because I knew that was going to be my reality next year and it hurt, but it was such a good hurt because they are leaving behind a program that will carry on and continue to grow because of what they build and the standard they set.”
Ava Arnett finished her home campaign with 14 kills, 10 digs, nine service aces, two assists and one block. Kamryn Biliter dished out 18 assists, 15 digs, six service aces and one kill. Mackenzie Caldwell added two digs, Makayla Terrell had five digs, Brooke Harris added three digs and a service ace, Jaycee Caldwell chipped in with four digs, Baileigh Bargo dug out one attack.
