MMS, MES students join Youth Advisory Council

Middlesboro Elementary and Middle Schools have announced the formation of their Student Council, a group of student leaders who will also serve as the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC). These students will collaborate with city officials, offering fresh perspectives and ideas to address community needs.
The students serving on the council include:

- Jace Baker
- Cooper Edwards
- Ace McDonald
- Leila Romero
- Hunter Hamlin
- Addison Miracle
- Aariz Ahmad
- Emmalee Daniels
- Chloe Smiddy
- Harper Coe
- Reid Howard
These student leaders will contribute to school and city projects, representing their peers and
playing an active role in shaping the future of Middlesboro.
“We are thrilled to see our students taking on leadership roles within the community,” said Jessica Heck, Middlesboro Middle School Youth Resource Center Coordinator. “This student organization provides a unique opportunity for them to learn civic responsibility and contribute to local decision-making.”
Middlesboro Mayor Boone Bowling expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration.
“Having young voices at the table is essential for our school and our city’s growth,” said Bowling. “The students on this council bring fresh ideas and are eager to make a positive impact. I look forward to working with them.”
Jessica Brown, Middlesboro Elementary School Family Resource Center Coordinator, echoed the excitement.
“Our students are ready to engage with the community in meaningful ways,” said Brown. “The
council is not just a learning experience but an opportunity for them to influence the future of their community.”
The student council will meet regularly to discuss both school and community projects. Updates
on their progress and contributions will be shared with the public as they work toward making
Middlesboro a better place for all.
