Pineville girls advance to conference championship

The Pineville Lady Lion 7th and 8th grade basketball team defeated Middlesboro 38-26 in the semifinals of their conference tournament on Saturday.
Pineville was scheduled to play Jackson County in the championship game Monday night at Lynn Camp High School.
Middlesboro led 7-4 after one period, but the Lady Lions outscored the Lady Jackets 22-5 during a decisive second quarter to take control of the game. Clara Strange scored 13 of her game-high 23 points during that run that gave Pineville a 26-12 halftime lead. They cruised in the second half to the 12-point win.
Hannah Abner finished with seven points and Kaelyn Burnett six while J.P. Patrick and Whitley Miracle scored one point each for Pineville, who improved to 12-1 in conference play this season.
Petty scored 12 points to lead Middlesboro with Rogers and Partin scoring six point each and Manis two.
