After playing their first two “home” games at Union Commonwealth University in Barbourville, the Pineville Mountain Lions played their first true away game at perennial Class A contender Bishop Brossart.

The Mustangs dominated the guest Lions throughout the matchup, claiming a 49-0 victory Friday night. The Bishop Brossart offense controlled the matchup from the opening kickoff, jumping out to a 22-0 first quarter advantage and never looking back.

Brossart (3-0) was led by Cameron Mandel’s three touchdowns- a 4-yard run, a 1-yard jaunt, and a 95-yard interception return for a score at the end of the first half that salted the game away before halftime.

Pineville (0-3) had some nice plays on the night. Senior linebacker Dylan Abner had a big sack in the second half to stop a Brossart drive in the third quarter and blocked a Brossart extra point.

Junior defensive back Ethan Jackson had his first career interception.

Senior back Kaiden Robbins had two big runs of 33 and 27 yards.

The Lions continued their season long road-trip next week with another visit to northern Kentucky to face Eminence. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.
