Alicia Ryan Smith Burnside, age 44, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, beloved wife of John Edward Burnside, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the UK Medical Center due to complications from surgery. She had a kind of heart that you rarely encountered, was humble and brought warmth with her presence. She loved her family immensely and lived to play with her grandbabies.

 

She will be tremendously missed by her husband John Edward Burnside, son Connor Burnside, daughter Shelby Smith (Robert), grandson Killian Frith as well as a stepson Hayden (Ally) Burnside, grandchildren Ava and Grey Burnside and new grandson that is due in September of 2024.

 

Her mother Glenda Smith preceded her in death as well as father-in-law, Melvin “Mo” Burnside. She is survived by her sister Brandi (Will) Muncy, father Allen Smith and Mother-in-law, Patty Wakin Burnside; in-laws Cheri (Jeff Kochanowski) Burnside and Melvin (Mari) Burnside. She was cherished by her cousins Pam Smallwood and Paula Daniels; she also will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial service for Alicia Ryan Smith Burnside will be 11:30., Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Astor Simpson officiating. The Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Service. Private interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens.
